Royal Wedding
The children have enjoyed assemblies and lessons about the wedding. We are very proud to say that a former Church Langton pupil will be involved in the event. Former pupil Kate Sandford (nee Miller) will be the first female state trumpeter to play at a Royal Wedding. All at Church Langton are very proud of Kate.
Well done to the boys who represented our school in the first hard ball cricket match of the season. We are lucky to be able to have the use of the Langtons Cricket Club and the children enjoyed playing in an exciting match against Linden Primary School. The team set a strong total with the bat and then bowled very well to secure the victory. Thank you to Mr Baylis for coaching the team.
Well done to the pupils in year four who represented the school in the Premier Sport Fencing competition. The team did brilliantly in a series of matches and were crowned champions. Well done to all who took part and thank you to the organisers.
Thank you to everyone who supported the LOROS sport in school event. We have been regular supporters of this charity for many years and it is fantastic to announce that we raised £834.30 through the sponsored event. Half of this money goes to the charity and the other half is to be spent on our school with the school council looking at how they would like to further enhance our outside space.
Well done to the pupils who took part in the global debate held in the council chambers at County Hall. The children from years four and five enjoyed debating against teams from four other schools, with this year’s topic being focused on eradicating the plastic pollution crisis in our oceans. The children presented beautifully and had some difficult counter arguments to contend with, but they did so with maturity and enthusiasm. Each child should be very proud of their efforts and, who knows, this could be the start of a new career path for some.
The school choir enjoyed a fantastic experience as they took part in a Spring Concert held at St Peter’s Church in Church Langton. The children, from years three to six, sang alongside Janette Munroe and Il Destino, a duo made up of Jon Christos and Adam Lacey. Janette, Jon and Adam are professional artists with a wealth of experience around the world, singing with other top artists including shows on Broadway and the West End. They performed songs from top musicals, films and other popular works. The choir were wonderful and not at all fazed by the occasion, thanks to the hard work of our music teacher Mr Kirkland. The packed audience included many proud parents who were delighted to see our pupils performing with such illustrious company. A big thank you to everyone involved in organising this wonderful opportunity for the pupils.
