Well done to the dodgeball team who took part in the tournament organised by Robert Smyth Academy. The pupils from years five and six had a chance to practice the skills they have been learning in school and competed against teams from school across South Leicestershire. Thank you to Mr Knowles for coaching the team.
We were delighted to host Whizz Kids which is organised by Welland Valley Cycling Club. The afternoon involved twenty seven children joining in riding around the field and playground and playing various games. Thank you to the organisers and to Friends of Church Langton for their assistance in organising the day.
On a wonderfully sunny afternoon the new four plus pupils welcomed their parents to school. It was a chance to see how well the children have settled, meet with staff team and for the year six buddies to introduce themselves. A big thank you to FOCLs for organising this lovely event.
A large crowd of parents had the pleasure of watching the athletics squad, comprised of pupils from years three, four and five, who competed in the completion held at Corby Athletics Track this week. Children from years four, five and six took part in a dance festival held at Robert Smyth Academy this week. They were given a forty-five minute challenge to prepare a dance to then perform to an audience of parents and teachers. Miss Parker was very proud of their superb group effort.
We were delighted to have pupils from years three and five take part in the worship led by Bishop Martyn Snow this week at Launde Abbey. The service was to mark the creation of the new Launde Deanery and the children were part of a choir alongside pupils from other local primary and secondary schools. Thank you to Rev Alison, Rev Jonathan and Rev Rosie for all their support with this and with worship in our school.
Pupils from years five and six enjoyed the opportunity to visit Loughborough University this week as part of a wider group with five other local schools. The children had a busy day experiencing different elements of the university campus. Thank you to Mrs Hollis for accompanying the children.
A group of year 5 children had a fantastic experience to take part in a writing workshop with children’s author Nick Cook. They enjoyed creating their own pieces, making a news report and learning all about how he became an author. Thank you to Mrs Byrne for accompanying the children and to St Cuthbert’s Great Glen CE Primary School for hosting the event.
Members of the school council were given the opportunity to take part in the Diocese of Leicester Advent service held at Leicester Cathedral this week. It was lovely to worship with staff and pupils from schools right across the Diocese. Thank you to Mrs Manley, Mrs Byrne and Mr Knowles for accompanying the pupils.
It was a great pleasure to see the pupils in four plus, year one and year two perform It’s a Baby. All of the children played their different parts brilliantly and we had two sold out performances to proud parents and grandparents. Thank you to all the staff who were involved in this excellent opportunity for the pupils.
